* YOUR daily dose of CAFFEINE

Having TANG YUAN for dessert is a luxury in this bloody cold depressing winter night.
Very rewarding for my taste buds indeed.

I am addicted to bubble tea recently. On average, I drank 5 cups a week. That should explained where does my money drained into.

In a boring lil' dusty town like Dunedin, the least you can do is to pamper yourself with GOOD QUALITY foods.

Maybe it would be even fabulous and complete if we share 'that thing', don't ya think so, Ninja? *wink*

Finally after 6 weeks, our group project has finally completed.
We have our presentation to the Department this afternoon and earned very positive comments.

I must say I did not put too much input in this as I am happily enjoying my self-declared holidays. *GUILTY*

Anyway, we are looking at the parents' understanding of the new amendment of Section 59 regarding smacking your kids, or loosely referred as the 'anti-smacking bill'.

Can you believe it? The bill has passed and is enacted last week.

HOW ON EARTH are we going to discipline our kids now when the use of any physical force for CORRECTION is illegal.

New Zealand is one of the 5 countries that passed this bill, and personally, I think it's completely insane.

Although NZ is one of the countries with the highest domestic violence cases reported, this bill is just going to get the police busy and locking up caring parents who has great hearts to save their kids from getting rotten and wasted. Understandably, the crux of this cynical legislation is to condemn a small proportion of abusive parents and save those poor unprotected young souls, but are we overdoing it?

The Green Party XXXX( I won't want to end up like JEFF OOI, so anonymity is preserved) who proposed the bill intends to ' create a safe and protected living environment to the children', I think it will create more havocs rather. One anonymous commented that her 4 years old kid threatened that it's illegal to lay her hand on him when she is trying to discipline him for his misconduct. Another parent sarcastically mentioned that she won't be expected to do anything if her child throws tantrums in the supermarket. I cringed at the thought of a child crying on the top of her/his lungs with 120 HZ voice that can break the glass. URGH.

BUT..the use of reasonable force is allowed if it is inconsequential and is for prevention rather than correction. XXXX refused to comment further on REASONABLE FORCE.

Right. Kicking a child's ass or smacking on the face sounds like applying reasonable force to me. I am sure some people will look horrified and drown me in their disgust. See? How could she not define the word REASONABLE as we creatures function with subjectively variable brains. Some has peanuty brains, some have brains as big as you-know-what.

My mum used to smack me.
My dad used to can me.
That did not leave any negative implications on me. That makes me wanted to grow up and have kids, so that I can have spank them if they get naughty. You know. POWER and AUTHORITY are GOOD....(?? Erhm. What did I just sayy??!)

No , seriously, kids need to be punished for their mistakes. Yeah, of course it's justifiable to use those wooshy tactics like TIME-OUTs, or talking senses into their brains nicely. But c'mon! Their brains are still developing. They can only absorb limited amount of morals. You don't learn unless it hurts. Instead, you won't even forget.

Furthermore, corporal punishment will stimulate the little brains of theirs, to excite the ability to either:
a) learn from mistakes
b)plot clever dirty ideas to avoid the punishments ( that's why I believe that my IQ is more than 120 because I am trained to be a good plotter since young. HAHA)

After all, you won't want the police /government/public to get involved in the way you discipline your kids, do you? What are parents for if they can't even discipline the kids in an effective, fast and morally sound way? I am talking about corporal punishment for good, for discipline and in a HUMANE way.

Can you imagine how kids in NZ are going to be?

I can.

They will be a bunch of strawberries that experience less physical sufferings.

Personally, I think more people will lose in fights.
Cry when they break their nails, and fainted at the sight of needles.

More people will ask for anesthesia for flu injections. PAIN , even a minimal one, is too much for them to bear.

And lastly, can you imagine a childhood without any excitements like run-aways and hiding in certain places where your parents cant hunt you down to beat you up? The adrenaline pumping moments when they were so close to your hiding sanctuary that you didn't dare to breathe? The guilt but phyrric victory when they got you ONLY after an hour of mad searching? The faking cries (at least I did) just to get sympathy from daddy who always (stupidly or not )got cheated?

Ah...that's the beauty and juice of a childhood.

Things can get quite tricky when it comes to playing smart but 'safe'.

I hate bedside tutorials.

It's crucial to PICK the right words.

An extremely HUGE woman was lying in the bed breathing laboriously.
First, start with inspection. So you sort of have a running commentary of what you are looking for, what you are doing and that kind of shit. Just to acknowledge the boss that you know something.

'She is obviously in distress, tachypnoea, pale...'

What else. (Interrogation)

'er....ehm....' Obviously he is expecting me to say that she is overweight which is a great risk factor for most of the diseases you can think of. But how on earth am I going to say that in front of the patient? That she is morbidly obese?

'ah....BMI over 30!' I prayed silently that I've made it as subtle as possible.

'She is obese. Do you agree with me?' Boss said it out flatly.

The patient frowned. I cringed.

'Do you agree with me, Zia?'

What is his problem?

Weighing out all the pros and cons of annoying my boss, I solemnly nodded and cautiously avoid any eye contact with that poor woman. Wa kia si mah!

I know I spoiled the bonding we may possibly shared.

Scenario 2

A little boy looking quite unusual appeared in the clinic. He has flat nose and big slanted eyes. I swear that he has some kind of inherited genetic disorders of some sort. So excitedly I commented that he is dysmorphic-looking. The father frowned. I looked up only to bump into a mirror image of that kiddo.

Obviously he gets the looks from his father, who looks funny but entirely normal. His father threw daggers at me throughout the whole consultation.

I am hated once again.

Scenario 3:

This lady came to Emergency department with recurrent syncope. A plump short lady with baggy clothes tagged alone. She is quite tomboyish with pierced lips and nose. Throughout the consultation she was hugging the patient, french-kissing her at times ( shows no discretion at all, waiyah!), and stroke her on the hair. 'We live together.' She said. So, obviously I thought, they are homosexuals. Not unusual at all nowadays, oh well, I thought.

While typing out the discharge summary, I typed in 'living with her partner' under the social history section. This tomboy then confronted me looking absolutely offended: Hey doc, she is just my friend, ok? We are not partners. And I am straight. You hear me, straight.'

All eyes laid on me.

For a moment I thought the world may just paused for my sake, so that I can just sink into the ground and pretend that I never ever done medicine.

4 months to go.

And I will be a doctor.

I am scared.

I am quite comfortable hiding underneath the big doctors' wings.

It's time to come out soon.

I still can't fly. But I thought I can.

Simple mistakes can lead to big troubles,

for a person like me who has butter-fingers,

it's NO GOOD at all.

NO GOOD.

My life is at stake, (whisper) so are the patients'.

Let's start learning now by stop dropping bits and pieces along the way when I walk, shall I?

Oh by the way, I found my IPOD. I left it in Ninja's car.

What's your favourite magazine???

I bumped into Cleo when I was 15. My sister used to buy it monthly. A big chunky book for RM 6.50. It was cool to see all the pretty models and clothes ( Pardon me but my English was so poor that I couldn't grasp any sense out of the articles)

As I grew older, I found Cleo pretty unrelated to me. The fashion part is OK, but I don't really fancy articles like : 15 ways of upgrading your sex life, How to seduce Him/Her...that kinda tips. Yet to be my cup of tea.

I switched to Marie Claire. A thick fat one as well, give you the deceiving impression that it may worth the money NZ 7.50 after all. Well, it does have great stories like 'Living in Iraq' etc that may motivate you to strive harder in impoverish environment or scrimp and save at a subsistence level of living. But, almost 70% of the magazine is make up of advertisements of cosmetics and skin care products. Strictly speaking, the gist of it is merely 3 0%.

So, I get bored. I culled TIMES. I have to say I was a lil' bit ambitious and paid NZD120 for a 6 months-subscription. Sigh. First of all, their articles are super long. The advance language may put you off.The writers use lots of fancy terminologies but as long as you figure out the meanings you will be sweet coz they use them repetitively throughout the articles. ( HAH!) The problem is, it's not really a what I called 'Neutral' magazine. TIMES is quite 'anti-Bush'. So what they commented may be biased. Most of the articles are erred towards America 's news, rather than targeting international news.

I bumped into The Listener. Well, it took me a whole month to finish the thin magazine. That explains how boring the magazine is. The majority of it is about Economics ,consumer news and political issues in NZ.

Reader Digest. GEEZ. I won't buy another one in NZ. One of the life stories sections is something like...'THE DAY WHEN IT WONT BE THE SAME AGAIN'. It provoked my over-working imagination assuming that some pivotal figure must has died. It turned out to be a man talking about the depression he suffers over his hare who died of ischaemic bowel disease. Another one almost worships her pet dog. New Zealanders are too lucky to worry about something else.

Now... TA!DA~~~~ NEWSWEEK. FINALLY I found a magazine that I fancy. News week is just JUST RIGHT.Adequate mixture of economics, politics, ITs and fashions. It has lots of interesting world news and just right to boost up my general knowledge. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT~

After all, juxtaposing all the magazines that I've read, I still like DOREAMON. SIMPLE, IMAGINATIVE and INNOVATIVE. HAHAHA

My mood is yet to be elevated coz it's still snowing out there.

G-E-R-A-M!

I can't seem to shed off the melancholy flavor in whatever piece of shit I write.

So till then, I will be back when the climate gets better.

Some memories are meant to be abolished, some have their own rights to stay.

As the time goes, I learn to fiddle with them and choose the ones that ought to stay.

I vividly remember that was the favourite song I make you to sing.

I am still loving it.

The town is almost empty.

Some freaks are studying in the library. I remembered myself muttering : Lost souls lost souls... every time when some heads were spotted in the library during Friday nights as I drove by. This year, more lost souls are spending their time here. I guess they must be Health Sciences Juniors. Those who strive extremely hard to scrimmage an entry ticket into the Medicine gate.

Snowing+empty town+lost souls= Depressing.

Anyway.

I bumped into some blogs written by some kiddies.

Most of them are not more than 15 years old.

They freak me out.

They talked about depression, killing themselves and the hatred towards their parents, friends and the world ( since when the world gets involved).

They wrote about poems for their lovers... how they are meant to be with each other ...till the end ( the END? the end of their puberty maybe.)*sadistic*

It's kind of funny that when I am about the similar age, all I care is the incremental prices for DING DANG and JO JO. JO JO costed me 1.50 for each box, and that's HEAPS.

I bumped into my old diaries ...and.......................*BLUSH*

Sigh.

I have come this far, this far......

GEEZ.

I HATE SNOWING.

YA YA, contrary to most of the people, snowing is depressing for me.

I stayed in the blanket for 6 hours after waking up. It was too cold. The heater is so far to reach, uhm, I mean, without having to get out from my bed.

I thought I can hibernate. So I crawled into a meatball in the blanket, believing that somehow this might decrease my surface area and conserve as much heat as possible! For a brief moment I hope I am POLA bear with thick fat layers. I don't mind the weight at this nick of time, really.

6 hours... 6 bloody hours...

I must say we humans eat to live.

I suffered from a few episodes of hypoglycaemia attacks. During the attacks, I dream of my Prince Charming brought me Penang Laksa and a hot cup of Holicks.

I almost hit the rock bottom when my hero walked into my dark cold depressing room and switched on the heater for me.

Coldness stop my brain cells to function in a normal way.Logically,by suffering from less than 30 seconds of coldness to get to the heater and switch it on, I will not suffer the extra 5 hours 59 minutes and 30 seconds.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work that out.

I can't seem to keep my stuffs in my pocket .

I lost my I-Audio mp3 player in less than 12 months time.

Then I fell in love again and bought I-river.

It disappeared mercilessly in less than 9 months.

Finally I decided to give love another chance and bought an Ipod Nano.

Now, she breaks my heart again ...in less than 6 months!!!!!!!

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! *WALLOWING*

Retrospectively, it must have slipped out from my handbag in the hotel during the interview last night.

The lady said she will contact me if someone picks it up ( Yeah sure, and sell it off in Trade Me).

I am sooooooooooooo bad in relationships.

Being an optimistic and adventurous girl,

I lift up my spirit and start hunting for some eye-candy.

Well....

I-river X 20 4GB. Perfect sound quality. That SEXY SEXY beast!!!!

CURRENT MOOD:
GRUMBLING (blame the hormones)

HOW COULD YOUR JUNIORS, I mean, children actually benefits from WATCHING TELETUBBIES????!!!

How could that ever improve their IQ with this kind of programmes around nowadays? Teletubbies producers should respect the fact that children may be young, but they are certainly not mentally retarded enough to watch this programme.

It's EMPTY, MEANINGLESS and LACK OF SUBSTANCE.

How could they stand the " BYE BYE' session that is repetitive in nature with no other new modifications or whatsoever???? It took about 10 minutes, you know.

'BYE BYE...' so.. you have to wait EACH of that creatures waving good bye, and when you thought that the grilling is finally over, they will "BOO!" and popped out again?!!!! And that male voice will say : Noo. And they have to REPEAT the bye byes ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!! oh my gawdddddddddd. Not to mention that sickly baby sun that does nothing but giggle.

Even if you make it like South Park version with LALA got shot everytime for the ending will look more colourful and intriguing than the original one.

If I see them walking down the road one day, they will be stun-gunned.

ONE BY ONE.

My first ever Job Interview.

In a nutshell: PERPLEXING.

The interviewer did 89.9% of the talking ( voluntarily).

That's not in the listed scenarios in 'TIPS FOR JOB INTERVIEWS' which I have been googling away.

What does that imply?

BLINK BLINK.

Am I at the winning or losing end?

BLINK BLINK.

I ended up walking out feeling utterly confused.

Am I the one that's losing the plot here?

Sorry for being unusually quiet for the past few weeks.

I am too busy catching up with the pace of my life the velocity I would like it to be. Not too much of some random efforts to save the world ( HAHA!) but squandering away my previous lovely free time and feeling sorry for myself.

We were having five hours of CPR --Cardiopulmonary resuscitation workshop this afternoon. I have such a *()&#(*@#( time trying to ventilate the mannequin. I put on the filter, and blew it hard through it. What's wrong with that?Wil has no problem breathing in good volume of air into the plastic mouth wad!!!! He stared hard at its chest hoping to see any glimpse of movement when I was 'kissing' it. Eventually he concluded that my anatomy of my mouth, I mean, lips disadvantage me. I must be a BAD kisser. 'It's just too hard to get a good seal of your lips around it, aren't you?' He cracked.

*FUMED*HOI! That;s over-generalization, OK?

The American instructor made me do it on 2 different mannequins, trying to console me that it may be just the particular mannequin that is not doing very well. Same thing happened. She pulled me to aside and whispered: LOOK, it's EASY. It's just like KISSING, but without the tongue.Seal tight with your lips and blow into it. It's like KISSING, you see? KISSING!'

*BLINK BLINK*

Does she blow air into her partner's mouth during kissing?

That makes me wonder.

Anyway, after several desperate attempts, I make it!!!! Maybe I am not too bad a kisser after all!

Oh, eventually I figured out that my technique is perfect, it's just that I FORGOT TO BLOW it through the part that's not air-sealed on the filter. No wonder all my breaths leaked out.
*SLAP*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPIAK.

I am just SLOW in picking things up.

But hey, I am learning.
